In our never-ending quest for perfection, it's with tremendous pride that we introduce Winamp 2.50, a full 0.26 units heavier than our last release!
In addition to the usual bug-fixes (no more GDI explosions!) and incremental improvements, Winamp 2.50 introduces many usability features, such as simpler skin selection, better integration with IE, and the creation of PiMP, the Plug-in Mini Packager, allowing packaging of plug-ins into a simple installer. Download Winamp 2.50 now, then download and install some of the plug-ins whose installation was made easier with PiMP technology: Justin's beta AVS visualization plug-in (MakePiMP will be avaliavle to plug-in developers soon). Plus, support for Audio Explosion's Mjuice digital music delivery system is nearing completion, look for an Mjuice-capable version of Winamp very soon.
Also, we've lowered the price tag on this model, TO ZERO. That's right folks, Winamp is now freeware. Please join us in welcoming back the ever-controversial Nitrane MPEG audio decoder into the new and improved Winamp 2.23! After crashing his Audi, Winamp engineer Justin Frankel lost his fondness of German engineering and the Fraunhoffer decoder had to come out. The Nitrane decoder brings back MP2 support and decreased CPU usage. Enjoy!
